YEAR OF THE BRITISH & EUROPEAN VEHICLES
14-20 March 2011 -  Our 32nd Annual Show!

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

WELCOME

We welcome everyone to come to the Corowa event to join in some or all the week’s planned activities.

There’s no obligation to sign up for every outing. You might like to come for the whole week, a couple of nights or just visit for a day.

Corowa is suitable for all ages, men, women, children, families, couples, singles – EVERYONE!

Over the last few years especially there has been a real growth in the number of ‘guys’ coming with their families in tow – the ‘girls’ getting involved, it’s great to see.  There are lots of things for families to do, the swimming pool is right beside the caravan park, it’s a short walk to the shops, the Murray River runs along the back, good for swimming, walking, fishing etc, and the park itself has good facilities, shower blocks, laundry, small shop at the office, a playground, lots of green grass and is excellent for bikes – watch out for the vehicles though!

Please read through the planned events page to see what’s on and where appropriate it would be advisable to let the site office know if you plan attending any of the trips so that they can make the necessary arrangements.

Participants tend to fall into these different categories. Don’t feel that you have to own a military vehicle to be able to come along.  You can be part of the week on many levels.

Please visit the downloads page (link here) if you’d like to register, become a member, or to view previous newsletters, which contain stories, articles and information.

 Participants without vehicles

You may still own a vehicle and come to Corowa without it, that’s fine.  You may not own anything at all, and that’s OK too.

Come and be ‘part of the crowd.’

Wander around, talk to people, get to know others. You’ll be amazed how many have an interest in the same thing you do and can share their experience.

A TYPICAL WEEK AT COROWA

The Corowa week always has a buzz of excitement, especially as you keep tabs on seeing how many vehicles are registered – right up to the beginning of the parade – only to see if we beat last years record!

The main hub is Ball Park Caravan Park.  Here you will find the bulk of the participants who are staying and this is where the Site Office is situated.  Here you can register your vehicle for the event if not done so already, find information about activities, speak with committee members, read the notice boards etc. The site office is manned most of the week on a daily basis.

As the week unfolds, there are the various planned activities, including  billy cart races, lots of cups of coffee, glasses of wine and beer or two over a catch up with friends.  All this leads up to the “grand event – The Parade” which is without a doubt the highlight of the week.  The Swap Meet and the Auction night finish of an adventurous week.

The Caravan Park has different accommodation options, although the cabins are often booked a year in advance, you can always call and check if there’s been a cancellation. You can bring a caravan, camper or a tent.  Some sleep in their vehicles, under a tarp, drag out the ‘big old army tents’ and do a very real barracks set up – well almost!  You can call Corowa home for a night or the whole week.  Participants start arriving on Monday and each day new people roll in.  It’s always interesting being there early in the week and seeing the vehicles come in one by one and the park fill up before your eyes.

The airport is the next point of call; this has become the second accommodation site. The event has become too big for everyone to stay at the caravan park, especially for those who bring along tanks or other tracked vehicles, there is just sooo much more room to run around out there.   Here you will find a camping ground, toilets and showers.  There are facilities available to buy food and meals too.  Over the course of the week, many participants float between the two sites anyway catching up with friends and checking out all the vehicles.

The airport is also where we all end up after the parade on Saturday morning which is then followed by the Swap Meet.

There are other accommodation options in the area for those wishing to stay but not in the Caravan Park or at the airport. Please visit the Links Page (link here) for more information.

Corowa itself is well appointed. There are two supermarkets, a McDonalds, various take-away shops, bakeries, Pubs, Golf Club and RSL for meals,  bottle shops and everything you need to make your week in Corowa a pleasant one.

We would love to see you all at Corowa – for further information please just send an email to us at kveinc@optusnet.com.au
